How Does Vegolink Billing Work?

Vegolink operates on a pay-as-you-go basis, meaning you only pay for the mobile data you use. Here’s how the billing process works:

  • Prepaid Balance: When you purchase a Vegolink SIM or eSIM, it comes with a prepaid balance. This balance is used to pay for your data usage.
  • Data Usage: As you use mobile data, the cost is deducted from your prepaid balance according to the data rates for the country you are in. Vegolink's data rates start as low as $0.002 per MB.
  • Balance Monitoring: You can monitor your balance at any time via the Vegolink website or the Vegolink bot on Telegram.
  • Topping Up: If your balance runs low, you can top it up online through the "TOP-UP BALANCE" section of the website or via the Vegolink bot on Telegram.
  • No Hidden Fees: Vegolink has no subscriptions or hidden costs. You only pay for the data you use, and there are no additional charges beyond what is deducted from your prepaid balance.
  • International Usage: Vegolink is designed to work in multiple countries, and the billing system automatically adjusts to the local data rates of the country you are in.

This flexible and transparent billing system ensures that you have full control over your mobile data expenses while traveling or using Vegolink services.

Example of Data Usage with Vegolink

Imagine you're on a trip to France and you're using your Vegolink eSIM.Plus for mobile data. The data rate for France with Vegolink is $0.002 per MB.

  • Browsing the Web: You spend 20 minutes browsing the web, using about 50 MB of data.
    • Cost: 50 MB × $0.002 per MB = $0.10
  • Streaming Music: You listen to music on a streaming service for an hour, which uses approximately 150 MB of data.
    • Cost: 150 MB × $0.002 per MB = $0.30
  • Using Social Media: You upload photos and check your social media feeds, using around 100 MB of data.
    • Cost: 100 MB × $0.002 per MB = $0.20

Total Data Used: 300 MB

Total Cost: $0.60

So, for 300 MB of data usage in France, your Vegolink balance would be reduced by $0.60. If you initially had a $20 balance, you would have $19.40 remaining after this usage.

Known Issue Related to Automatic Profile Switching for Vegolink Users Using Vegolink SIM PRO and eSIM.Global (Formerly Known as Vegolink eSIM)

Problem Description: Automatic profile switching fails immediately after a new profile has been added. Most of the reported cases involve customers traveling to the U.S.

Solution:

Below are instructions on how to manually switch to the profile we use in the U.S. to restore internet connectivity:

If you have an Android device:
  1. - Go to Settings and tap on Applications.
  2. - Scroll down until you find USIM Services. (This app is not searchable and may have a different name - SIM Toolkit).
  3. - Inside USIM Services, find and open the DMI app.
  4. - Next, select Settings and then Profile.
  5. - From the list of profiles, select the one that begins with 26003.
  6. - In a few seconds, the internet should start working.
If you are using an iOS device:
  1. - Go to Settings and select Mobile Service.
  2. - Next, select Vegolink SIM or eSIM under the SIMs section.
  3. - Scroll down to the menu item SIM Applications and select it.
  4. - Then, select DMI > Settings > Profile.
  5. - From the list of profiles, select the one that begins with 26003.
  6. - In a few seconds, the internet should start working.

After the first manual profile switchover, the profile switchover to 26003 will start working automatically.

Note: Recently introduced Vegolink SIM and eSIM.Plus products are not impacted by the automatic profile switching issue. This has been tested on more than 100 connections.

We do not plan to change Vegolink SIM PRO to Vegolink SIM because they are different products, and the known issue with profile switching described above is manageable.
